..and add an aft hung rudder and tiller on my LAST boat so's I could get a tiller pilot to steer those long straight stretches. I have for years disliked steering my own boat. That despite the time I had a gal out with many years ago on Passage. We were coming in under sail...no engine on that boat ever...and I indicated to her the slip we wanted to turn into. It was about four slips farther. But...she threw the tiller over hard and said, "this one?". We still had some way on and I hollered so she...straightened the tiller after we were committed and sure enough, the cut away bow of my long keel boat slipped about four feet up on the dock just inside the entrance. Slowly we slid back off...slowly I looked around..no more than ten thousand onlookers but mercifully no applause.
