when I looked at the high cost and associated mechanical complexity of a belowdecks pilot, decided against it. I removed the interior helm and associated hydraulic lines. The boat now has just a tiller...nice and simple.

Of course, I still haven't bought a tiller pilot but, yup, I'd just carry a few of them for extended cruising. Of course, if I had the money, I might put in a below decks pilot instead...still, though, I don't like the increased mechanical complexity it entails (especially for a small, 33' boat).
