The issue you raise could be solved by getting a basic power strip with integrated 15A breaker. I don't think anyone uses less than 15 amp circuits anymore, and that could be verified at the main breaker panel.

- You would need an inline fuse on the plug line.
- You still have the potential to throw the main and fry a lineman.
