Adding fittings will make it more likely to plug up and that much harder to flush and clear if it gets plugged. Try warming it in warm or even hot water and bending to shape on a temporary jig. It should take a set and hold it when it cools. Then when you try to install it, it will be a better fit. That way it won't have the residual stress that Peggy described.
