zip ties
In Response To: Y valves and overboard discharge ()

My Newport 28 has the same setup and I put a zip-tie on the Y valve lever to lock it in the position that sends all the waste to the holding tank. Been boarded and inspected twice with that setup and had no problems from the CG or the FL Marine patrol either time. Have heard of using small padlocks, chains or removing the Y-valve lever. I'm sure others will have some better ideas.

- Occasionally move the pump handle -- or it will "lock-up".
- So is direct overboard discharge illegal? Thought this was legal outside 3 miles.
