Addition. The cracks will be where you can't see them.

Most of the time there will be cracks in the section of deck you can't see. Our forward lower broke right in the middle of the deck during a passage from hell. 35 knots and 8' confused seas.

Also ,,, if you don't replace the chainplates and your rig comes down your insurance company won't pay out. They'll say it was a maintenance item you didn't address. like standing rigging chainplates need to be replaced as part of your maintenance.
