Yes, they are glassed in and yes, that is another reason that we are pulling them.
We are looking at cutting the tabs off and just coming back with strips of stainless (316) with out the tabs.
95% of the cost is the labor. Unfortunately, I don't have the time or the expertise. The chain plates are going to be water cut with a cad driven system here in Kemah, Texas.
A big part of the cost is the carpenters taking my teak palace apart in such a way that we can put it back together again. The cost of just the chain plates is just about what Dan y estimated, less that $600. We have owned the boat for 15 years and put 50000+ miles under her keel. I just feel like I will sleep better if we go ahead and do the chain plates, especially since we have torn her up this much. The boat has lived most of her life in St Martin and we are headed back there as soon as the refit is done, right after the first of the year.
