Just a few additional comments. Todd is right on.
Having two masts allows me to have two boom gallows which makes for a perfect bimini mount without all the bows making entry/exit from the cockpit interesting. Also since my mizzen is close to the after end of the cabin it gives me a good hand hold with out the "tree in the cockpit" feeling.
When the wind picks up and my sloop friends are tap dancing on the cabin, I drop the main to the gallows and can either furl it or put my reef in without the boom trying to give me swimming lessons.
Using the halyards from both masts I can lift heavy loads directly to the middle of the boat, say a dinghy.
More sail with less "air draft" which lets me go under bridges my sloop friends can't.
With a split fore triangle and a fairly bluff bow, she doesn't like to tack in light air with a lot of slop (speed boat wakes or left over storm waves) but by over sheeting the mizzen and holding the jib she will tack.
Bottom line The rig is fine for me. Hell, if I wanted to go fast, I wouldn't be cruising.
