In Response To: Tough to tell a rear engine fire from rear seat fire. ()
My recollection is the fuel tank was forward of and higher than the engine. A fuel leak ahead of the fuel pump could result in gravity fed fuel in the engine compartment. It was over 20 years ago that we sold our '71 bus. Lots of good adventures. Gasoline around hot exhaust manifolds and air cooled cylinder heads... not so good. I made sure fuel feed hoses were tight and secure.
