My wife had a '78 fuel injected Super Beetle... The fuel lines were under about 30psi pressure. Works just fine as long as the lines are fresh and new.

She was going down a long hill one day and people started honking at her and she looked back to see the back of the VW on fire... pulled over to some house on the side of the road and jammed a garden hose in the engine compartment. (freaked out the home owner)

2 years later I finished rebuilding it... new convertible top, new wiring harness, new upholstery, new paint, all new hoses and plastic parts in the engine compartment. It ran great... About 2 years after that, it was in a hit and run while parked in front of the house.

Sold it "as is." I couldn't bear to rebuild it again.
