Raytheon did not start a marine electronics business. They bought Autohelm. A British company that originally went by the name Nautech. Nautech/Autohelm had been in business since at least the early 1980's

Their history of poor service goes back a very long time. Their practice of replacing the entire product line every few years and refusing to service older products began with Raytheon.
