I plan on putting a battery forward for short (and thick) cabling and running something much lighter back to the battery switch for charging. I will drag this 10 year old Dorado out of my closet, dust off the cobwebs, and see if it works for me. At worst I'll burn it out in the middle of when I really need it. However, when do you REALLY need a windlass? I've been sailing for 36 years and have never had one in the past.
My sailing mode as mentioned is weekender at best so nothing new there.
At most I'll be able to report that it works just great, at worst she burned up, smoked a few wires, and set my new yacht afire
