I too am presently in NJ due to wife's illness while cruising in New England. Our boat was on a mooring in Fairhaven NJ near Red Bank when Irene appeared.I had the boat hauled at FH and spent Thurs and Fri prepping her for the storm. Its amazing how much stuff a cruising boat acquires.
Friday afternoon while driving home we checked out Atl.Highlands and Keyport harbors and were surprised to see at least 100 boats on their moorings with sails still bent on and no prep.Same situation in Perth Amboy another 75 to 100 boats exposed on their moorings.
I dont get it--a hurricane with 75 mph winds or more and these boats are left there.I guess they dont believe the forecast.
Each of these YC's have suffered heavy loses in Nor Easters in the last few years and they werent hurricanes. I dont get it!
