Can't believe they let people build houses on the ground that close to the water. Would think they would have to have their first floor 10' above high water, at a minimu, to take storm surge into account. Another problem is allowing people to build on the outer banks and then insuring with other peoples money. You know if the outer banks take a direct hit, there are going to be 100s of miles of vacant lots. The rest of us are going to have to foot the bill to cover the insurance companies in that case.
