In Response To: Where are the building codes. ()

Once something is built it can stand till a big one cleans the Earth. Then when someone else buys the property they and add some to the structure; of course with new code, however then the structure will most likely last longer because of the new code and thus still be around and insurable.

Yep, years ago, our forefathers knew enough to build only fishing shacks on the barrier islands. Then someone figured out they could make a lot of money building and rebuilding there and ever since the avg joe helps foot the bill for reconstruction. Now what do you think the answer is. For the government to claim eminent domain and buy all the homes / property there and doze the entire area.
