how high is your mast? If your vertical clearance is below 50' you can try going in on the other side (i.e. via Deleware Bay).
Maybe you could carry on to Cape Henlopan?

- Nothing is good to enter in a "heavy" sea state, by definition
- How far south are you planning of going?
- Sandy Hook, Hbr of Refuge (Henlopen) and Chesapeake Bay entrance
- Cape May is one of the best and easiest inlets on the entire East coast, IMHO...
