Only to change it a moment later. Shortly after we decided to head into Cape May we studied the coastal (as opposed to offshore) forecasts for the Delmarve (?) coast and realized the coastal weather was going to be a lot more tame than we expected ... So we carried on and made it to Norfolk around midnight last night. We actually carried the asymmetric in a 12 knot easterly while Katia was churning a few hundred miles east of us.
John, we only have IPads and cell phones so our only communications have been when near the coast, and a major city. It was fortuitous we happened to be near enough to Atlantic City to get the coastal forecasts for the Delmarve (?) coast, via Internet, since they weren't being broadcast on VHF for the areas further south. That gave us enough confidence that Katia wasn't going to mess too much with that area and it was safe to transit.
GLTA who have to deal with the flooding and other issues.
