But from time to time an eddy from the Gulf Stream comes in close enough to reverse the flow to southerly.
The usual 'dividing line' was Barnegat Inlet ... usually northerly south of Barnegat and southerly north of Barnegat Inlet or completely vice versa ... at least thats the way its been told to me by all my ancestral surf-fishermen in my family.
