A call from Cuttyhunk to the Menemsha harbormaster to ask about getting onto one of only two moorings inside got a "shouldn't be a problem" reply. It was after labor day.
Inside the little basin it was calm and quiet even on a saturday. Just off the harbor, I could see a good deal of car and pedestrian traffic on the one road that dead ends at the expansive and beautiful public beach that flanks each side of the tiny inlet.
Having been to Menemsha via that land route in the past, I couldn't help but feel a little smug floating out there, nearly alone.
Menemsha is a working harbor, and looks like one from the water. They're my favorite harbors to visit.
