Menemsha Pond

Some years ago, like the late 80's and early 90's I would take my P-39 up the creek and anchor in the pond. It was a bit sporty right in the vicinity of the nun as there is a bar which works out from the east. But after that there was plenty of water all the way up. And it was well worth it for the peace and quiet. We could dink back to the basin for fish and explore 'Quitsa pond and beyond. Now I must admit I am chicken to try the channel with my current boat although it may still be possible. I run up in the inflatable and hang on the beaches on the north side of the pond. The basin has not changed a bit in all that time other than the explosion and fire which destroyed the CG boat house in the basin I believe in 2009. Although I must say that the prices of the various seafood stores have skyrocketed to where I browse but don't buy anymore. Like Cuttyhink I think most of the fresh seafood is brought over from New Bedford and that contributes to the high prices. It is indeed a beautiful spot.
