Hard to believe today this precious waterfront has survived intact.

() Especially here. I peered inside one of the shacks, it indeed holds fishing gear. This doesn't happen by chance. The residents of Menemsha long ago said no to the kind of development I've seen too much of along the coast, and they must continue to do so today.
"We like it just the way it is", is what I hear from inside this typical shack along the lagoon.
