() I can just imagine a group of "friends" deciding what's best for you at sea.
On the other hand, it seems the CG has to have the authority to decide if they will rescue you if they have been alerted to go through the process of hunting your boat down on the high seas in a distress situation.
I think the captain was negligent in not preparing one iron clad pact with a trusted designee on shore for just this scenario.
