One thing certainly not very much in his favor...

...is the fact that he managed to sail into "a ferocious storm" barely over 100 miles from his point of departure - his weather-routing skills apparently leave a bit to be desired... (grin)

Obviously, the CG is in a tough situation in a case like this... But, given a precedent such as the $35 million judgement against them after questions about the agency's response to the moron who drove the s/v MORNING DEW onto the Charleston jetties several years ago, killing all aboard, it's understandable to a certain extent when they might choose to err on the side of caution...

I say leave it to the cruise ships to rescue all these people who choose to abandon their boats at sea - they've certainly been doing a pretty good job of that lately... (grin)
