And even less as long as I've allowed enough time, mentally(and logistically). Day sailing, steerage is all I need sometimes.
But around our sailing grounds in Penobscot Bay, distance often takes priority over speed because we like to sail to our destinations. Meaning, we'd like to spend a certain amount of time underway under sail. We too like to make a destination early enough to get to shore to explore, walk and relax, watch the sunset. I also like to have plenty of time to choose where we may anchor. Backing those requirements out, we then decide which destinations are in that range.
The opposite is the paid delivery. I heard a local delivery captain saying that over many years, 99% of his delivery miles have been made under power. That would be the Expense Floor for the owner. Most MPH made=lowest cost.
