"speed floor" makes sense if you have a destination...

But if you are going out to sail, for sailings sake, then slow sailing works just fine.

That is one thing that I have always thought that defines the difference between power boats and sail boats... I have always felt that the sailboat represents it's own destination..."I am going sailing." Whereas on a powerboat, one generally intends to go somewhere as in "we're going fishing," or "we're going diving" or "we're going to some location." Now granted, one can just get in a powerboat and let the wind blow your hair back... but it always seems that there is at least some motivation for "going somewhere."

On a sailboat I find that just ghosting about and getting the wind to do your bidding is often enough motivation for being on the boat... "adult kite flying" I call it... just out playing with the wind.

Now of course you can "go somewhere" on a sailboat too, or go fishing or diving or anything else, but even if these other activities are not your goal, you can still just "go sailing."
