In the days before GPS and chartplotting I could see this happen. But, nowadays, with the kind of navigational
equipment onboard - a cruise ship!!! - there is simply no legitimate excuse for running aground on a charted
hazard in relatively calm conditions. The Capt. simply had no business diverting and was entirely negligent
for not recognizing a clearly charted and well-known danger.
