Chesapeake

"Maybe the doldrums of summer can just be too hot to enjoy light air sailing?"

This can often be the case, also at night for sleeping with the humidity and no wind to cool things down. Of course as we get older we tend to like our comfort a bit more. On the Chesapeake I also like to get the hook down mid afternoon before the thunder boomers come in. This also gives me more choice as to where in the anchorage I get to plant the hook.

As to LIS, I've had it both ways. Sometimes the wind is good for travel, other times???? Of course when you are actually transiting an area your priorities are different than weekending.
