Wednesday is Photo Day

Here's a lead in photo for the story. It's from Waimea Bay on the North Shore of Oahu.

When we were living in Hawaii my 3 yr old daughter informed me that when she grew up she was going to be a pro surfer and a rock star. Both careers seemed fitting because she was always in or on the water and singing whenever she was not submerged (she could have been singing then too, but it's hard to say for sure). When she was six we moved back to Colorado. She doesn't surf much now, but she plays her guitar all the time. She first started taking lessons when she was ~7 and convinced me to take them with her. I hadn't played since I was about 15. We've been having a blast with it. A few years ago I bought a really nice guitar for myself. It's great mental therapy to play some every day. Having a great guitar makes it even more fun. I told my daughter than when she practiced enough without being told I would give her some money to buy an American Standard Stratocaster or equivalent. That took all of 2 weeks, but she decided she wanted a better guitar. She saved up the difference and went to a local custom builder recently. Grosh guitars builds amazing guitars. Picking out the model and the specs was very easy for my daughter. Working out the color with the builder took some time. She wanted her own color "Trans Waimea Burst". Fortunately the builder is a very cool guy and a true artist. He spent at least 30 minutes with her mixing paints and talking about color details after we toured the shop. Here's one of the photos that inspired the guitar color.
