We were VERY restricted in what and where we could touch the baby! We DID NOT approach the whale, the baby was herded by it's mother close to our boat. And at ALL TIMES the mother was on her side below our boat watching us! We later got to touch her also.
As we were in a panga (boat) about half the size of the mother, I don't think any one on the trip was about to make any bad moves!
I can tell you that no matter how any one feels about it, for us, and all on the trip, it was a life changing experience!!!!!!!!!!
In the past we were against whaling, but we are much more adamant about it now.

A VERY good book!
This was a last min decision to take this trip off the boat. Jill was commenting on how special cruising is, and how by chance we make once decision and it turns out as life changing. Another time we try to see something and it flubs.....
