I use a blue 12v fluorescent light that I bought

at an auto parts place in Mazatlan a couple of years ago. I cut the wire off and replaced it with the wire from a "Davis" light that just wasn't making it. I hang it from the back stay over the cockpit on the assumption that none of the Panga drivers ever look up to a mast top. The blue light catches the eye and is easy to see in a field of 60 anchored boats on a moonless night. I figure the amps burned is like paying for insurance. When you figure that we have watched a DVD movie and had ice with our drinks and used the 12volt blender to make the drinks in the first place the amps the light burns is a non issue.
