Larry, thank you for bringing the Flash malware to our attention. I don't find malware to be excusable and am not insulted because my mac is vulnerable. I blocked all Flash a long time ago and support Apple's efforts to not support it. Flash is one of the largest security issues out there, let alone just a plain resource hog and a pain to use. Being on low bandwidth, I would like to see Flash eliminated from the web. Luckily, it is easy to block from even loading within the browser.
But I have to wonder why you have an iPad? You say nothing good about it, and there is a plethora of non-Apple pad computers available. Probably some with user interfaces that better fit your needs.
As for application crashes on the ipad without notification - is it different on Android? I only have experience with the ipod touch and applications - no experience with ipad or android. While I have never had an app crash on it, I do know that the apps are not "apps" in a traditional sense. For example, they never have to be "opened" or "quit" - they all run at once and just come to life when I call them. They don't seem to delve too deeply into the base OS and seem to be self-contained. So it doesn't surprise me that when one crashes, it just ceases to exist until you call it again. Perhaps the architecture is such that the crashing and lack of notification blame should be placed on the app developer and not the platform? But then the ipod touch doesn't have any data type apps where you create something or input data like the ipad does. Are the data saved when your apps crash? If not, that would be a bad thing if they crash a lot.
