Opinions: Honda 2 hp outboard.
I've had mine since '99.
Thanks Al. Were they 4 strokes in 99?
Yes. Upper case configuration is a bit different.
Long lasting and reliable, but...
The guy at Honda said his 2 was quieter than the similar weight Suzuki 2.5 water cooled. Is he full of it?
I have no idea
Have Honda 2 hp and Suzuki 2.5 hp.
I went with the Suzuki 2.5 after extensive trials with both engines...
yes
I'd sell you mine but
Honda 2 hp engine is LOUD!
They sound just like a lawnmower.
there was just a discussion about that in the Google Group for Tinker owners
New Honda video
Old Honda video
Yamaha 2.5 video
Suzuki video
I bought a ....
I love Yamaha, but their 2.5 is 39 lbs and the Honda is 27, the Suz 29lbs. 40 lbs is getting two hands heavy
Let me add.
Yamaha....
Hi Bruce, are you coming to Maine this year?
Bermuda
2hp 2 stroke
I have been very happy with my Torqeedo 1003...
Torqeedo...
I went electric because of gas troubles...
I didn't think you motored that much in a whole year!
I have a powerboat too..
I am aware of that.
Torqeedo security
The second drawback is Torqueedo range anxiety I think.
Tom, that's easily remedied by carrying a Honda generator along with you
Good idea Ron! And a gas leaf blower if winds are light.
Range anxiety isn't an issue...
Range Anxiety is THE issue with battery powered vehicles Todd. Each person has different range needs.
How about solar panels for the floors?
They sell a solar panel charger kit
Thhe torqeedo solar charger is very expensive...
Of course, the Torqeedo motor isn't for everyone...
Good argument for Idiot Sticks
Range may be an issie for some, but as I explained, anxiety over the range isn't...
We now have two stations within 20 miles with ethanol free premium for boats.
I haven't seen any ethanol free gas here...
General avaition
Not mixing is a curiosity for sure.
What about the propane o/b Defender has?
Shipping across the border would make it cost prohibited, I actually located a few local lightly used Suz and Hondas
Suz sounds (no pun...) like a good deal.
Don't be in a big hurry to write off your 95 Evinrude, Dave
We once had a Johnson from the 80s; great engine.
The newest outboard that I own is the 89 Mercury on the skiff.
can it be used as a BBQ?
The drippings would look even worse than bird droppings!
Designing products for the outdoors, Honda ever heard of peace and tranquility?
Clearly not. Take their generators, please!
The two year old used Honda is sold... and not to me. By the looks of it just as well.
