Glass experience..

Had some tempered glass windows in the pilot-house of my last boat. 3/8" thick very heavy and strong enough to take a wave. Unfortunately they could not take a small stone tossed by some little urchin and one was shattered into a million pieces (what a mess).

I was able to replace it with tempered safety glass. Initial quotes were astronomical, but on my third try I found a shop that did it for a reasonable price; I think some shops apply a 2* or 3* multiplier to the quote if they are unfamiliar with the work you are asking them to do.

I also had cast acrylic storm shutters permanently attached over some of the larger tempered glass windows and they were still clear after 7 years including lots of time in tropical sun.
