just thought I'd chime in to a discussion I actually could contribute something to . That pic of me on the SC 50 I posted above takes me back to an incredible July...I'm still re-living it!
Gotta admit re: snow on the dodger being "wrong", it was very disappointing leaving the tropics under sail (this summer), probably b/c the transition on the ocean was so gradual...every day past 30*N gets cooler, then one day, it's just plain chilly out, and you know you're long past the tropics, now hundreds of miles behind. Really came to appreciate that hard dodger, and it inspired me to try to mock one up this winter. Still kicking around the idea of selling Sputnik and buying a race boat, like an Olson 40, something fast, but older and relatively "cheap", something fun to sail, to do the occasional Hawaii race in --or maybe I'll just keep my tried and true ol' Bessie
