I run a Chinese Honda 'knock off' in the exact same way, manner. And that was the ONLY power I had for 2 weeks for living @ normalcy, ..... except my well pump needs 220 volts.

Definitely seek an alternator/inverter type with automatic 'efficiency'/idle control ... as most of the time you'll only be quietly idling along.

double duty - I use the same unit on my boat for 'extra recharging' when long term anchored, etc. Hell of a lot cheaper, more storage efficient and doesn't have the 'windage' of a 'solar farm'.

BTW ... the chinese knock offs usually require gaining special and mystical initiation rights into the super secret society and closely held way to make them start reliably, Honda is way to go.
