I think the Yamaha looks better and the control panel is better layed out. I also like the color. never liked the red on the Honda. We also really liked out Yamaha 15hp 2 stroke outboard (before someone stole it in Shelter Bay)
We purchased the Yamaha 2000IS and converted it to a tri-fuel (natural gas, propane, gasoline). Works great for keeping our refrigerator and television going when the power is out. As a note,, we had our television on cable and when the power went out the cable went out 4 hours later, then at hour 8 the cell phones went out and that was in Southern California last year (only 11 hours). The only communication we had was AM radio. I then switched our TV to Dish. Now, with the generator running tri-fuel and satellite TV we've got a good handle on power outages and communications with the energy resources to have the power to run the refrig, tv and a few other items for more than 2 months.
Cruising did that to us. Now when the power goes out,,, we only care about the neighbors looking at us with envy. Scarry thought.
If you care about extended power outages and communication, switch to satellite tv instead of cable. It's the only way you might get television communications.
