We bought it for use with our travel trailer but it will keep things going during a power outage though not the well pump or the heat pump (but we have a travel trailer). There's not much difference in price between the 2000 and 2400. It's as quiet as a Honda - important when we are taking it camping. During a power outage, we only run it enough to keep things cold in the refrigerator and the freezer and the keep things like the phones, the laptops and the MIFI charged up.
