So I kinda doubt that is the problem. Thanks Dave. This is a tiny 13HP 2GM20F Yanmar... I think your outboard is bigger than that.
The fuel lines are 1/4 ID. I could bump them up in size but they have worked quite well so far. The engine would usually fire up on the second or third revolution when starting it. It typically would just purr into action without fail. Until now.
It went out by suddenly not having any power. It was idling fine, and then I went to throttle up and it just didn't obey.
I was thinking about it last night while I nursed a beer and basket of crisp onion rings... the engine is tiny, the pistons are tiny... even the slightest error on my part in the fuel line procedure could have left air in the lines.
I will try the process all over again... much more carefully... I was too giddy about it the first time. (once I heard the fuel flowing back to the tank... I was set... D'OH).
I will likely try the bulb thing while trying to start it too... just in case something like the feed pump died. On the plus side, I am getting more and more familiar with my engine. (the dirty hand prints however, have got to go...)
