Basically the story goes that I've always felt able to defend myself adequately. My son and I are both black belts......not from the cheesy get a black belt in two year schools but rather from a hard, 8 year cycle of hard charging fighting. To give you an indication, our black belt test was three days long and out in the wilderness of NH woods.
Over the years I've lost that hard edge and despite what Sailorman might tell you , you falter as you get older. That along with what I see happening for violence all around has prompted me to take up firearms defensively and one of the places I feel most defenseless is on the boat. That might be okay for me but not when I have family aboard.
