We would sit in this one second story corner restaurant in the afternoon and watch as the afternoon crowd started. They were all teenagers, the guys with their cars, trucks and motorcycles all blasting music and the girls walking by all dressed to impress the young guys. It was an afternoon delight.
When we were ready to leave I check the transmission fluid and it was really low. I took the dingy back to town and this kid gave me a ride on his scooter to an auto parts store. He waited, brought me back and when I wanted to give him something for the help he shook his head no, waved and drove off. I remember the woman who wrote 'Spanish for Cruisers' was in ????? was it the Luperon Yacht Club around the corner by dingy? Ahh, memories.
I liked that town.
On the other hand,,,, Samana was terrible. We had 8 military with full gear and dirty boots board us extorting money through their interpreter. You couldn't breathe without someone putting their hand out for money.
