Easiest place to walk was when we lived in Allston-Brighton.

Could even walk to or from downtown Boston in moments of desperation (after Fourth fireworks, leaving work on 9/11).

Onset is probably like many small coastal towns: can walk to hardware, pizza, post office and bars. Everything else is a car. Ah, but can also walk to the dinghy dock at the town pier in 10 minutes and row out to Hickory Wind's mooring in another 5. We're here for family, boat convenience and some views of the water.
