as our shake down prior to heading into Mexico. Don't miss the Napa "River", Petaluma "River" and all the way up to Sacramento. We went to the county fair in Petaluma and stayed on the city dock. Petaluma has a nice, small town feeling. We rented a car in Napa and "did the wine country" and stayed at the Nappa Valley Yacht Club for three days and did a Pot Luck dinner with them. You can stay on the public dock in downtown Sacramento. It was free and we stayed for several days so we could see all of old town. Past there the water seems to be getting a bit thin so we stopped but you could keep going with your boat. Not sure for how much longer but a few miles I would think. We went up the San Joaquin and crossed to the Sacramento around "Three Rivers Reach". Don't miss the fire works display on July 4th at Three Rivers. It's huge! We also played BINGO and ate Buddhist food at the Buddhist Temple during some festival in one of the oldest towns on the Sacramento River founded by the Chinese RR workers. It was Great! Once we got up there, we could only spend another stay 6 weeks so we just scratched the surface and will go back someday. Next time we'll spend part of the spring and all of the summer. I swear, you go through three climate changes within 20 miles of SF so be ready for cold weather as well as Hot. Next time we'll do the Stockton part of the river as well. By that time we'll need some replacement parts and there's a West Marine in Stockton! Good luck on your trip.
