nuclear power stations....everything has a cost, fossil fuels, nuclear, wind, tidal, river dams, etc. This project has no intention of providing the east coast with all of its power needs, not even close. Cables? Steve ever looked at a sonar image of just about anywhere in the Gulf of Maine? Cables galore! In fact the amount of crap on the bottom is stunning, the ghost lobster gear could cover the whole state! The industrial harbor already exists here in Searsport, see below....second busiest port in the state.
Shipping lanes/security zones are well established and aside from the idiot yachties not giving way to tankers in Penobscot bay we know how to deal with this too.
Fishermen will keep fishing and electricians will have more work, I doubt that many fishermen will learn a new trade to work the wind project, but the kids in the engineering depts. here and in other colleges will see potential...
