Once you start using Chrome Google takes every effort to force you to use all they're stuff and you become locked into Google for all kinds of stuff that is propriaterialy theirs. After a while you start to wonder what the hell took place and discover your computer is different than it was

Don't like that at all and as you said privacy goes out the window.

I use Safari. As much as Apple tries control they seem to leave Safari alone giving you freedom from using all apple apps. Not Google. They want to grab you making you their property.
