I think of this boat, or actually the tech implementation, as way too space age for any reasonable boat to appeal to the public. But I think if you look closely at stuff like this, you're seeing some of the future of sailing. The design and tech never stops evolving.
But as to the boat itself, I think it's a winning design and build(I didn't think I would say that looking at the initial drawings). And it's very strongly built, more so than most production builds. But the design out of the box has severe limitations for it's use.
I'm not that much of a fan of the Fontaine 40, I think this smaller one off is a better design(I think the 40 looks out of scale somehow). I wonder if we're seeing a new semi production design?
I still prefer a 50+ year old sailboat to most anything new for many reasons, but I'm open to new ideas.
