For $200 at Defender, buy the GoFree wifi hardware to install a mini network on your boat. Then download the free Simrad app for your iPad. As advertised, the iPad can simulate the Simrad MFD when not connected to the network, and can actually operate the Simrad system when it is connected. I haven't tried it, bit it is certainly on my wish list. I have been very pleased with the Simrad NSS model CP with broadband radar.

- Yes. Then our external gps, through blue tooth, plots our location on the charts.
