I agree with you. But looking at it in real life, it's something that goes far deeper than Google, MS or ....
The credit card companies have always tracked us, likewise the banks, and about every other thing. Heck, even the dry cleaners say hi to me when I walk in and ask about how I am doing. Well, I sort of like it when they remember me without a computer, but, it's still tracking me.
