The only thing separating us from a totalitarian government right now is the "policy" of the ruling groups. Yes, "ruling" is correct, because congress is dysfunctional, and autonomous decisions about the use of information are made within departments (and kept secret). The fact that there is a "secret court" with oversight on the use of information doesn't raise your concerns? Democracy is on the ropes. I never thought I'd hear about a "secret court" in the US! That's NOT what democratic process is about.
Selective release of information can paint distorted a picture about anyone or anything that's a lie -- not fair or balanced. People or groups can be set up. Now you add in the fact that there are electronic voting machines and software that can be tampered with, and the scene is set for a really bad plot that's not a movie.
We should all be concerned. We're sheep. I'm not paranoid, I'm scared. History repeats itself. Power and money corrupt people.
