I replaced every one of my bulbs on

board with LED lights except the navigation lights. That will be next but it will be hard because I have several spare bulbs and they were terribly expensive. I'm, by nature, cheep. I also installed strip lighting down both sides of the main salon and the're great! LED's changed the entire way I think about the light verses power consumption dynamic on my boat. Now I feel like I can actually have enough light to read by and not feel guilty for wanting to read. My position has always been that I will use as much electricity as I need so that my wife doesn't feel like she's camping. Weather it's a microwave, hair dryer, TV or cabin lights, a happy first mate is a happy ship. That doesn't mean that I don't feel guilty from time to time about running this stuff but, at least, not with the cabin lights.
