As humans we have millions of years of evolution and adaption to the Earth. During the day the light is from the Sun and has certain characteristics. At night we have either sunlight reflected from the Moon which is really grey/blue or,,, very warm colors from burning something.
Incandescent & Halogen go warm as we dim them. Not unlike burning a candle or a campfire. It's warm and inviting. On a boat at night dimming creates warm, sexy and inviting atmosphere. The lower the level the warmer the light gets almost like the sun as it sets. LED's stay the same. They're always the same color.
For me,,, psychologically it sucks! When people dim lights they sometimes say that they're taking it down to 'candlelight level'. LED's can't do that. They're may be less light but it's the same color it was when full brightness.
Still, you can't knock the energy savings. I think at a loss of something psychologically important, at least to me.
